Minor formatting changes:

1. Days/Dates now in a monospaced typeface, making neater columns which are quicker for the eye to navigate.
2. Three-character abbreviations of day names and month names adopted. This also makes for improved neatness and, just as important, frees up more screen for the information columns.

Suggested adoption of Calendar posting standards:

1. For neatness, we should be consistent with date formatting. There were some "20th"s and some "20"s on the page. For consistency I have made them all the same. For space, I have adopted the latter form.

2. Event organiser's name. So far, only Second Life names have been used. While there is a case for including RL names, this would open several cans of worms, labelled "Privacy", "Page Real Estate" and so on. In my opinion we should continue using Second Life names in this particular context. However...

3. If we are to have a column for the event organiser's name, I suggest we use it effectively. It should inform rather than simply be a signature space. I suggest we make a point of posting both first name and second name. This will allow a person with a query to contact the organiser.

4. Final point on organisers' names: I think it's probably a good idea to set an early precedent by listing names in alphabetical order. Starting as we mean to go on should mean fewer rows in the future! Note: I think that as the Second Life friends List sorts by first name, so should we where an event has more than one name listed..

5. SLURLs should be as precise as possible. It might be tempting to just paste the SLURL of the teleport hub (as to do more at has been futile till now - see forum) but I have hopes that direct teleporting will be permitted in the future. And regardless of the actual debate, it does no harm to post Calendar SLURLs which would take full advantage of such a change. If nothing else, we can enjoy watching avatars perform a blind cursor square dance as they seek a venue by watching the co-ordinates display.

5. Though I haven't yet practised what I'm about to preach, I suggest that we try, as far as is practicable, to include an estimated duration for each event.

New Pages

1. Each different group event listed so far (23 July 2008) has a link to a unique page based on Kathy Schomer's template.

2. I have also been creating a unique page for each activity group (Literature and Science so far.) These pages are linked to from the ones mentioned in "1" above.

All look like sensible suggestions to me - indeed I'm impressed that you are documenting them so neatly! I think that the direct teleporting should now be working. I have set up a discussion board in the forum for SchomeBase discussions - cos these talk pages are horrible if you want to actually discuss something ... I've also added a link to a template for event sign up pages - which allow you to provide more detailed info about events and/or get folk to sign up for them if you need to limit the number of participants for any reason (or just need to know in advance how many folk are planning to turn up).
