Organiser: Ronnie Sparker
Topic: How should we make our ethical choices?
Overview: This session is to discuss how we should make our ethical decisions, with particular reference to life-or-death situations.
- What criteria should we use when making life-or-death decisions in medical or social contexts, and how should we prioritise them?
- What is it that we value about human life? Is it merely "being alive", or some other quality attached to life such as consciousness or quality of life?
- Are there inconsistencies between our ethical responses to different issues, such as war, euthanasia, capital punishment and abortion?
