Schome Park staff will not act on personal information given to us unless we believe a child (anyone aged under 18) is in immediate and life-threatening danger.

If you have a serious problem which you wish to discuss with someone, we recommend you contact ChildLine on 0800 1111 or visit their website at http://www.childline.org.uk

ChildLine: confidential support

ChildLine is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger.

Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.

You can talk to Childline about any issues which are distressing you. This might be an issue which affects you directly, or you may be concerned about someone else. The areas on which Childline most frequently provides counselling are:

  • Bullying
  • Family tensions (including divorce/separation)
  • Physical abuse
  • Concern for others
  • Facts of life
  • Sexual abuse
  • Health(emotional/physical/suicidal)
  • Pregnancy
  • Problems with friends
  • Partner relationships
  • Running away/homelessness
  • Other abuse (risk/neglect/emotional)
  • Sexuality
  • School problem
  • Smoking/alcohol/drugs/solvent abuse
  • In care.

There4me.com: active support

ChildLine and the NSPCC have recently merged so that they can streamline the services they offer young people. The NSPCC has a phoneline - 0808 800 5000 - that doesn't offer the same level of confidentiality as ChildLine (so they are the right people to call if you want action taken about something) and also offers an email counselling service at http://www.there4me.com or by emailing help@nspcc.org.uk.
