New tagline
« on: December 07, 2008, 06:43:07 PM »
I wasn't sure whether or not to post this - but I've spoken to Peter and the images have been on the wiki for a few days now.

The Schome tagline  -  "not school, not home, Schome, the education system for the information age" has been changed to "schome - the education system for the learning age." Therefore, there are new logos to be used, that are the same size as the old ones. They can be found on the wiki and below. We should probably be updating any wiki pages with the old logos.

I know that the "h" looks distorted, I'll have to have another look at it and see why that happened. As a reminder, I've also posted the colours used in the logo below:

'OU Violet': RGB 133,111,179 Hex #856FB3
'OU Orange': RGB 239,104,32 Hex #EF6820

These are useful, thanks Mars. I had already seen, downloaded and used them without saying thank you.  :-[

It should be possible to update all the wiki pages at once. Files can be bulk modified by using stream editing software (such as sed). Alternatively, it might be possible to simply upload the new image to the same location as the old file (i.e overwrite it).

Yes, thank you for doing this Mars.

I'm wondering, on the lower one, where the words are all on one line if it might work better if the word 'schome' were slightly bigger and if the words 'for the learning age' were justified or ranged right.

I think there are some advanages to having a logo that forms a rectangle of text, rather than a near-rectangle of text. What do others think?

I'll have a play around later - and also try to sort the H out.

That's a good idea about overwriting the current logo Amba - I hadn't thought of that. I thought we'd be finding pages with the old logo on for months to come :)

Ok - I've played about, still have to sort the h out on the bigger logo, but I've aligned the tagline left:

On the big logo, if you view it on the wiki, it looks really fuzzy and distorted. You can't really see it very well on the forum though.

Oh. Is it a different format or quality to the original maybe?

I think I've found the problem - GIMP doesn't let you change the colour of individual letters, so I had to type schome in purple and then fill the h with orange, resulting in the fuzzy look. But I've found a way to overcome this, so it's alright now :)

You are a star Mars.

I haven't forgotten that I promissed to edit the report you sent me - meant to do it this afternoon but something else (to do with staff at the OU which I couldn't ignore) came up .... It is sitting in my in-box nagging at me ...

It's not just the report that's nagging him...  ::)
