The discussion area
« on: December 15, 2006, 11:34:17 AM »
I think we are all agreed that we need to have a discussion area (not to be confused with the informal meeting area).

There is a question about whether this needs to have 'breakout rooms':
"We know from our pub meetings that group conversations become very confusing. It’s difficult to follow a thread – people wander through, other people are discussing their hair, or their height, or their spelling. Also, we have the problem of lots of avatars being hard on the computer system.

I’m proposing breakout areas where two, three or four people can chat together."
(extracted from the wiki when I was tidying up the SchomeBase page)

This kind of hints at the need for two different scales of discussion areas - large meetings and small meetings.

I'm thinking we could set up a largish meeting area as per the first image (circle of blue transparent chairs) close to breakout areas formed by Dan's flying chairs (image 2).

Taking on board the stone henge idea that Rebecca had - the largish meeting area could be surrounded by transparent blue boards which could be used to display images if available/necessary.

What do you recon?

Whatever we decide, can we call it the imaginarium?
Because I'm worth it.

Check out the Eduserve Foundation MeetingPod which can host 8 participants - and when they put their hand up they are added to the cue of people who want to 'talk' ...

Very formal.  Like having a chaired meeting.

Not everyones cup of tea.
