Well, since the Schome techies and such seem to insist on saving me and getting me onto the project, I might as well introduce myself. ;)

Raemon Schomer here, from NAGTY. I'm sure we'll all have a wonderful time.  >:D

Hi Raemon,

Glad you are hanging on in there ...

K phoned your school today but wasn't able to talk with the right person - so has emailed them instead. Will update you as/when I hear more.

I'm still getting the 'unable to connect to simulator' message though  ??? ...it's either that or 'unable to connect to Second Life'...I've tried twenty times now!  :-\

Which is it - cos unable to connect to Second Life is probably a firewall problem.
Unable to connect to simulator is more difficult ...

PS this would be better in Second Life help (http://schome.open.ac.uk/forum/index.php?board=19.0)

Hello, Raemon, unfourtatly, my presence here indicates there is already a BSFH here, sorry chum! :P

*whistles*

Well, with the closing of the NAGTY forums and the rather-disappointingness of the Yoghurty replacement, I suppose I have to go somewhere, and for some reason my username still exists. So, arriving on your doorstep in a wicker basket and a note saying 'Please take loving care of' is . . .

Me!

(Although I still can't actually use Second Life.)

hey Raemon, must have missed this, so sorry!

Welcome back, a shame you can't get into Second Life.

Hmm, have you considered exploring the forums, joining in some of the debates and maybe editing wiki pages?
Although it is a big blow that you can't use second life, there are still plenty of non-secondlifey things here if you dive deep enough.  ;)

Why can't you use Second Life?

Faz: That is exactly what I intend to do. ^_^

Peter: Probably because my computer seems like it was revived from DNA found in a fossil. Until I get a new computer (school life is quite full right now, and it'd be uncomfortable being the only one in the school to be involved, before you ask :P) I won't be able to run it. Nevertheless, I will hopefully make some quality posts (because I've made so few posts, all my posts must be of amazing quality, right? ;)) and interesting contributions.

No problem if you are OK with not being able to get in - just wanted to check it wasn't a problem we could help with in some way - and it isn't (before anyone asks me if we can provide them with a bright sparkling new computer).   ;)

Hi Raemon, Trix has been having problems getting into Second Life since the beginning of the summer. She might be able to talk you through getting on via Ajax Life.

Peter is so ungenerous. :P

Fox: I shall be sure to speak to her at some point, then.

Thankee to all the people who've already welcomed me. Woo. ^_^ <-- Can't find an equivalent smiley.

I shall be sure to speak to her at some point, then.

Try sending her (Trixxiee Schomer) a PM now - she's online.

(You'll find that Trix is almost invariably online  :D )

Oh yes, I'm always lurking around somewhere, waiting for a topic to poke my head into. :P

AjaxLife (https://ajaxlife.net/client/) is very good for getting inworld to talk to people, and take part in IMs and the like (and I believe it was recently upgraded so you could look at your inventory and see who is in the surrounding area), although you can't see the world around you. However, I've found it very useful when I've wanted to go in for a particular conversation or something similar. ;)

Anyway, welcome to Schome. I hope you like it here, and will be a great member of our fun community.  lol

Interesting, certainly. I don't have an account on SL, but if I got one it would probably help.
