Assessment information is contestable:

Assessment is tied in with the views and values of the assessor The assessed bring their expectations and values All involved construct their own meaning of the assessment process.

So who are the assessors? Is it just the people setting and marking the national assessments? Is it just teachers... or is it the people who interpret them too? The employers, universities, the parents and school funders????

What are the views and values of these assessors? Do they offer challenges to current ways of viewing education? What it is that is being assessed as learning? Does our assessment system find evidence of what our children have learned... or whether we have managed to produce a crop of kids who can sit an exam?
