Hi Sam - welcome to WikiWorks - and it was great to meet you (and the other StB's folk) yesterday. Feel free to edit/add to the pages in WikiWorks. Remember that this is a public space, so be sure not to give out any personal details etc about yourself. I like your AP logo - which is now included on the AP page. Great stuff.

My Things That Would Be In A Futuristic School
- Laptops and/or PDA’s for every student
- All exams and work sent to central database
- All exams as important as each other
- Small end of mod exams
- Learning and quizzes to test progress
- On the move learning
- Video conferencing with teachers if you get stuck
- Virtual classroom with a program similar to iChat
- E-portfolio for every student to store work
- Application for individual courses
- open/flexible learning spaces
- physiology (colours shapes etc.)
Some questions about your futuristic school
Sam - can you describe for me what a day or week would be like for a learner?
For example you have said that there will be virtual classrooms and video conferencing but would learners every come into a physical place to meet with other learners and/or teachers?

I think that the idea of a physical building bring taken away is not feasible but if we could it would be brilliant!! Evan if there was still ‘the school building’ then I feel the look and feel would be a lot more modern and bright but learning would more independent on your own laptop/pda/pc. With independent learning you still face things you don’t understand but it is easier to sweep them under the rug and forget about them consequently you will not learn parts of the course but during the day there would be teachers available on video conferencing to help you with any problems you may encounter.
Does this answer your question peter??
Thanks Sam

I agree that there will still be a need for physical buildings - at least for some of the time - not least cos I think one of the main roles of school is to look after children so that their parents can go to work (ie nothing to do with education!).
I still don't really have a clear picture of what a week would be like for me as a learner. Would I go in to the schomebase (the physical place) every day, or just when I have problems, or just when I wanted to use specialist eqiupment, or when I wanted to socialise or do collaborative things?
