These are my stick insects. I love handling them, especially the small ones (because they don't tickle.)Can you find all eight stick insects in this picture?
- Wow, that one on the left looks massive! What is the scale of your picture? Fox
The long one is 8 centimetres long. It is going to be one year old the 22 of May and I have 5 more the same lengh, the others are all their children --Falcon 17:59, 23 March 2007 (GMT)
- So it doesn't only look massive, it is massive! How long do stick insects live? Do you expect them to survive longer than a year? My neighbour used to keep stick insects but I don't think any of them ever lasted very long. Fox
Actually, yes. We found a website about stick insects and it says that their life span is 18 months (for Indian stick insects, anyway.) If your neighbour's stick insects didn't last long then maybe it is because they didn't pull the egg from the stick insect's abdomens (sometimes you have to do it when they are just born). If they lasted more than a few weeks then either your neighbour was feeding the wrong thing (they only eat bramble, ivy and privet) or they were feeding the right things but not the right size (you have to make sure that the leaves are as big as possible and they are not the new leaves.) --Falcon 16:28, 3 April 2007 (BST)
