Hi from Nigel
« on: November 21, 2006, 01:18:48 PM »
Hiya! I'm an OU graduate and I'm waiting for the result of a course to find out if I now have an OU MEd. I work as an AL on two first level courses (Computing and Technology) and as a part time adviser in region 13. I also work with 3rd year media undergraduates at the London College of Communications and I'm involved with an OU project to map and develop elearning across the Sussex Learning Network (http://www.sussexlearningnetwork.org.uk/).

My interest in elearning and using technologies to support learning started properly when I started working as an AL on the OU's first "big" online course, T171, and led me to work on an online course aimed at helping teachers and tutors how to work online. It was run by the NEC using their "home grown" VLE and it attracted students from around the world and an amazing range of roles - the training team of Kirklees Council working alongside the head of training from News International in Australia. I've also worked with teams supporting children excluded from school, supporting people with social phobias and other groups for whom online delivery offers more than a substitute but the only meaningful provision.

I'm lucky enough to live in a lovely village in Kent (http://bish.nogbad.co.uk) and when not attached to a computer I'm often to be found attached to a pint glass in my local  :)
