What would the admiralty involve? If it's realistic, and so mainly just involves wearing uniforms of increasing idiocy (lots of gold chains, medals etc), then surely anyone can do that by themselves without an organisation :P

I don't want any form of heirarchy to form on this island-whether it is for fun or not-although silly uniforms can always be fun.

In which case it doesn't really need to be an admiralty, which implies a rule over the sailing fleet. What's wrong with the Marina Team?
If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.

beacouse a admralty looks after the water way ect I dident think a lighthouse bord had the same ring to it. They would maintain bouys and get charts made ect. A admral needent be a admral of the fleet the admralty also produce natical charts and tide time ect although lighthouse bords often look after bouys ect their job could be to look after the waerways and seas not just the marina

I think you may be forgetting that this is not the real world and bouys do not need 'mantaining', we have no need for charts and the waterways and seas do not need looking after.  :-\

(although I like the idea of a lighthouse!)

An admiralty is the wrong word. It is used to describe a group of people who essentially control who is most likely to die and how many people they will kill. I recognise this is out of date but the word still carries such references and I am most thouroughly against it for that reason. Why not just a sailing/watersports group, or a marina team, or indeed just a bunch of people who happen to be interested in the water?

topper great idea but think think you mean more of a commodore for the marina and club. basically you want to set up a marina and coast guard, they get owers to remove builds from the waters etc. or if boats are unused send them back to their owners. sounds like building and saftey departments

How would charts be useful, considering everyone will have a map of SPii automatically, and everyone may be given a map with positions of buildings on it? In RL, sea charts are useful, but in SL it's doubtful whether they serve any purpose. There could be a marina team which organises any regattas, registers PYs of boats (or rather a SL equivalent), and calculates winners, but I can't think of any other functions and so perhaps "Marina staff" might be a better name?
