Ok, I know I'm not part of the safety department, but I thought I'd get a discussion going about something everyone has strong views about one way or the other as far as Schome Park goes: weapons, because I think it's something that needs to be decided before SP opens again.

Should they be allowed as before? Should they be restricted to one specific area? What about those dragon blasters that most people hated? Are those that are for show (the swords, for example) alright?

Get discussing!

Yeah, I agree with Mars- I would like to keep my lightsabre, and could easily remove all the scripts from it that send people flying.

It's really not funny to be blasted/knocked off the map. :P

Yes, I think that if the scripts were removed from things like the lightsabre, that would be fine because then they're just decoration.

What about things like the dragon balls and popguns, which kind of need scripts - should they be allowed?

well the popgun is in my view completely different type of weapon from the infernal Dragonballs. They serve only to be a mild annoyance (though I suppose they could crash your compy if you have a poor connection, or if lots of people are around). Theres also the matter of popball....

Well it can't damage the avatar: LL have to make a special island to enable avatar damage.

You dont use them - same as everything else - delete the script!

It's not whether the avatar can get 'hurt' or not, it's whether you like it or not. I see no fun in being blasted to the edge of the map (as certain people well know), and I would probably go as far as to say it offends me, because I'm a peace-loving soul who hates fighting/war/blowing people up/blasting people off the map, which is why if things such as the dragon balls are allowed back in, they should be restricted to a certain area and only be used with the consent of people around, in my opinion.

Popguns, I do agree, are different, because they're very gentle and kind of 'splurge' as opposed to blast you violently. I still think they should only be used if people give their permission/in a designated area, apart from things like popball, which is obviously a game.

Delicate topic, weapons...;)

Oh I perfectly agree - it is insulting and in my opinion and as Peter would put it "a breach of the AUP". You could in theory do them for assault lol

But I can assure you trix - no weapons in Scho-op.

PS changed the name! lol Trix knows what I mean

It is a breach of the AUP if you don't agree and don't like it - I've been told that on many an occasion.

And that's good to know. As I said, I think that decorative ones are fine, it's just the scripted ones I have an issue with.

I've put my full view on virtual violence on the philosophy/think tank thread, but essentially I agree with the idea of weapons for decoration and not for use.

when the island is opened up to the main grid. there's going to be weapons here anyway, so banning them would be relatively pointless.
