Hi Jeff, thanks for posting. It is pretty quiet in here at the moment - but with any luck some other folk will emerge from the depths to welcome you. Do feel free to post in other topics etc..

We had some problems recently with folk logging in to the wiki - let me know if you have any problems with that. (When you go to the wiki you have to login using the same username and password as you registered for the forum with).

I'm very well thanks. I've had a magic year - 3 months doing research in Australia (looking at use of mobile devices in schools), 2 weeks in New Zealand (at a couple of conferences and contributing to a course on re-thinking schools, 3 weeks holiday in Indonesia (where I met up with my youngest son who is currently working over there - doing stuff with monitor lizards and the impact of Palm Oil plantations on the rainforest). Now back to earth at the OU - starting to get stuck into some course development work. Also in the process of moving house (downsizing as all three of my kids have now moved out).

Hi Spiral, Good to hear from you. I'm impressed you're reading pharmaceutical chemistry. Hope it's going well.
I'm lecturing in educational technology at the OU, alongside Mark and Euphloozie.
Phloozie and I have got a book out with another member of the Schome team - 'Augmented Education'. It includes some mentions of Schome, though only a few.
I've also been doing some work on FutureLearn, which definitely has some elements of being an education system for the knowledge age. Massive open online courses may shift education in new directions but I'm not sure. The jury's still out

It has been so long since I last logged on and did anything with Schome that I forgot my password and it took a while to remember it  . But something a friend and I were discussing the other day made me think about logging on and seeing how everyone is doing.

I'm ok. It has been a few years lol

I've finished my degree and will be starting my MSc in Nuclear Science and Technology in September. I want to specialise in experimental reactor design. Other than that, I've just been doing general life stuff lol. I volunteer for the Institute of Physics and for STEM ambassadors. I normally do physics busking type stuff at events etc. I went on an academic trip last summer to CERN in Geneva with some friends from university. It was amazing.
Not much else of interest unfortunately

I'm still at the OU - got made a Prof last year 

I've been exploring the use of mobile devices in schools - check out http://edfutures.net (yes its another wiki!) and http://www.yots.org.uk.

I'm starting to turn my attention to assessment - the biggest barrier to change in schools in England.

I'm also on the Education Technology Action Group (ETAG) - helping to pull together advice for the government about what they can do (that won't cost them anything much) that will enhance the use of digital technology in schools, colleges and HEIs. If you or your friends/colleagues have any suggestions then do feed them in to the consultation by emailing feedback@etag.support. See more info on ETAG. It would be great to have input from some students/recent students.

I'm also about to move house (hoping to exchange contracts soon) - so busy busy...
