We have A-E for effort grades and 1-4 for whether you are going to reach your predicted level in year 9 SATs...I mainly get As with the odd B in a subject  that everyone gets Bs for e.g. tech.   I get 4s in the main subjects but as my predicted level for art and PE was taken from the core subjects results it's no suprise that I am not going to reach a level 7 in them is it??   Stupid way of doing it if you ask me :P

We just did our mock SATs today...oh joy :p
They went okay *touch wood* I think :P

Daiiise :)

My Mock SAT's/assement in everything so teachers can decide who they want in there classes next year/mock mock Y10 GCSE (as we seem to be doinging ethier past GSCE or SAT's papers, start in 2 weeks time. As it stands i need to impress enough teachers to let me take 11/12 GCSE's (depends on these est if I will able to take triple scince and Statistics.) Oh and who else will end up doing some out off school lessons? Hopefully I will be able to do full RE.

...

Slightly off topic...  :-\

Well spotted Explo - pity everyone ignored you though! I guess it's going to be a shock trying to stick more closely to the topic from now on ... unlearning bad habits is tough.

Being big bad moderator - very conscious that no-one has actually responded to the original question about who will be estella's buddy ...  :(

In my opinion it is stiffeling conversion by keeping on topic, so maybe the soulution to please bth partys just splitting the topic into stuff when that happens, if we do that we might stick to topic better as time goes on...

There is a fine line (well actually not very fine - more very fuzzy line) - cos you need some social chat to keep the conversation moving - just not too much that is irrelevant ...

I know I get power mad sometimes ...
and have you noticed that over the last two months of so I have really got into ending my sentences with three dots?

Yes. You should use an ellipsis instead. :P

The odd thing is the space between them and the last word.
At school you stay on subject, at home you chat, and schome we need a mixture of both. Don't go against your own ethos Peter.

Alternatively, we neither chat nor stay on subject, and invent an entirely new word to describe what we are doing.  ;)

It just struck me - one of the things that is happening in the Introductions (and other places) is that someone new to the community starts a topic (like this one) - established community members come in and start to respond - but in no time at all the established community members are talking to each other and totally ignoring the person who started the topic. In the context of Intro messages in particular this seems incredibly excluding.

Imagine you were in a face to face situation.
You walk into a room full of strangers.
They all (appear to) know each other and are talking away.
You go over and join a group who are stood in a circle chatting.
You try to start a conversation ("Hi, I'm new. I was told that if I came in here and asked, someone would show me what to do")
They say hello in a friendly sort of way ("Hi, welcome to the community. Sure we will help you out.")
Then they ignore you and carry on talking about something else.
You stand there for a few minutes - not quite sure what to do next.
They carry on chatting - they clearly all know each other and are having a good time together.
You stand there a bit longer hoping someone will notice that you are still there.
They carry on chatting to each other and ignoring you.

Ok - so how long would you stay around if that happened to you?

(In case you haven't realised that is exactly what I think we are doing in the forum at the moment)  :-[
