My school does A-D achievement and 1-4 effort separately, with lower values being 'preferable', and effort focused on more than achievement-although personally I prefer getting A4s-doing well without even trying (my family has something of a meme on ability > effort). To be honest, hardly anyone cares about the school's indicators-the actual results are far more important.

That's what my school does, although it recently moved to A-E and 1-4. I seem to average about A3. Hmm. More effort needed? :P

: Kathy
I seem to average about A3.

I must congratulate you-I can't shake off A1s, and getting an A2 is an achievement. Even worse, I once got a D1 in badminton. :-\

: Topper
you see my parents worry more about the effort ratings than the attainment.

Now I'm feeling guilty for having parents who don't really care about my school marks...

Hah.

My school only grades effort on sport, and doesn't bother with the letter. I get two or three. I apparently dislike hockey, but like swimming. I always thought I disliked both. I will recreate in its entirety a comment I had on one sport report:

Tennis

Sport teachers - always highly articulate. :P

Incidentally, my parents would prefer high effort and low attainment. So I'm not doing well in their eyes.

Most teachers at my school can't pronounce the majority of surnames - and sport teachers insist on those. Except when they give up and say "I'm not going to try to pronounce this."

"Sanvananthan" (or is it "Savananathan"?) is an easy example, but I can remember it, so I'm using that. (not mine, I would add)

*My* PE teacher put on my report that I'm consistently late. I was late *once*.
He also put that one of my friends had the wrong kit. Why? Because he couldn't get his trainer on because he had a broken toe.

Oh, this reminds me of doing the Junior Sport's Leader Award (we had to, which was [insert adjective]). When listing attributes of a good and bad PE teacher (just one example of the wonders of JSLA), my group came up with wonderful words such as scintillating or quixotic, resulting in the teacher forsaking the white board and just repeating back the words. We also covered the sheet with jargon and persuaded him that they were all real words: prefunctionary divination was a good example. :P Anyway, perhaps this is just yet another example of being easily entertained...

We have A-E for effort grades and 1-4 for whether you are going to reach your predicted level in year 9 SATs...I mainly get As with the odd B in a subject  that everyone gets Bs for e.g. tech.   I get 4s in the main subjects but as my predicted level for art and PE was taken from the core subjects results it's no suprise that I am not going to reach a level 7 in them is it??   Stupid way of doing it if you ask me :P

We just did our mock SATs today...oh joy :p
They went okay *touch wood* I think :P

Interesting the number of 14 year olds in the project. With everyone talking about options and SATs we all know your ages now!

I haven't said anything about options yet, so you don't know mine. Although I do clearly state that I'm 16 (as of the end of December, yay). Oh, now you know. Oops. >.>

Also, that on-topic message seemed very off-topic. :P
