I like the idea of using the police letters alphabet and having Schome Park Alpha and Schome Park Bravo - but if we expanded any further we'd end up with Schome Park Charlie, which is downright silly.

I agree that alpha and beta do have connotations of being development versions but our islands are development versions of Schome, so that works. Also alpha and beta have overtones of mathematical notation and classical literature, which sit well with our physics and archaeology strands.

(I rather like the idea of our collection of sims becoming the Schome Archipelago - but perhaps that's a bit hard to pronounce.)

Haha - I was thinking of saying something about Schomepak Charlie when Spiral first suggested Bravo, but decided not to lol

I think Alpha and Beta are better, it might sound better to the public as well, instead of  Bravo.

I prefer the Greek letters, in order: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, etc.
(not that I expect us to get as far as that :P)

I think some form of "Tri" makes sense in recognition of the fact it's the third iteration...

Triad?
Triumvirate?

Or maybe Gamma?

If we get enough islands on the Alpha, Bravo system, we'll eventually have
Schome Park Foxtrot (yay!)
and Schome Park Yankee  :)

Though Schome Park November will be weird
Schome Park India will be confusing
and I think PeterT may have something to say on the subject of Schome Park Whisky  :o

LOL

This whole thing is an experiment - so I rather like the 'still testing' connotations of alpha beta etc (I know that the third one is not etc but you pedant).

I think we should avoid the whisky foxtrot yankee variation (for what I hope are obvious reasons - not not that I am jealous cos there couldn't be a Schome Park Ranger ...)

Seems to me we have three different approaches/options:

Option 1
  • Original island/region becomes Schome Park I
  • The new island/region remains Schome Park II
  • The combined islands (the estate) becomes Schome Park

Option 2
  • Original island/region becomes Schome Park Alpha
  • The new island/region becomes Schome Park Beta
  • The combined islands (the estate) becomes Schome Park

Option 1 costs half as much as Option 2 - so an extra $100.
Option 2 removes confusion with SPii (which is really the second design of Schome Park I!).

Question is whether or not we think the extra $100 is worth spending ...

I think we should go with Option 2.

You have to think - Would you spend $100 and there be a lot less confusion.
                         or
                         - Would you keep the money and be confused a lot more!
