'Thus Spake Zarathustra' is so full of good quotes I can't choose one!
'I am the gadfly'-or at least, I'd like to be

"Ye must be proud of your enemies; then, the successes of your enemies are also your successes."
"The earth hath then become small, and on it there hoppeth the last man who maketh everything small."
"The creator wished to look away from himself,--thereupon he created the world."

Various quotes from Thus Spake Zarathustra, Friedrich Nietzsche-I agree with very little of what he says, but he is very good at saying it.

Kant:
"Intuitions without concepts are blind; concepts without intuitions are empty."

I like that last one. Kant's almost as quoteable as Nietzsche, but just to tip the balance back in favour of the latter:

"Convictions are more dangerous enemies of truth than lies." - Friedrich Nietzsche

That's a good one.

quis custodiet ipsos custodies? is another good one, though in its original context it has nothing to do with E&P :P

“Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.”

HH The Dalai Lama

Quite a good one in the context of Christmas perhaps  ;)

A not-so-philosophical quote, but one about God:

Quote
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful [as the Babel fish] could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. Q.E.D."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

Most leading theologians claim that this argument isn't worth a pair of fetid dingo's kidneys, but that didn't stop Oolon Colluphid from making a fortune with his book Well That About Wraps It Up For God.

Surprisingly enough, the above is from The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy :P

Along the lines of Douglas Adams and God, I'm a fan of: 'Isn't it enough that the garden is beautiful without having fairies at the bottom of it?', although that's probably more of a paraphrase.
