I appear to have a very nice violet screen on that site, and nothing else.  :-\

I realised the same when I tested it - maybe it is only if you sign up, my school obviously did!

Ah. Terribly sorry to have missed you then. We diverged somewhat from the original topic and ranged into utilitarianism, justified killing, the misuse of tasers, and finally school, with associated complaints, explanations and comparisons.

Was it a successful session or did you feel the need of someone to bring you back to the original subject now and then?

I certainly think we all enjoyed it. Whether we learnt from it is always a difficult question with Ethics and Philosophy-I don't think I really changed my beliefs during the session, but it definitely gave me a broader idea of other perspectives on these matters, which is not to be underestimated.

Thanks to everyone who came along last night, there were some really interesting contributions.
We did end up covering quite a wide topic area, but I think it was all still relevant to the starting question, which asked what it is that we actually value about life, and how our answers to this question affect us when we try to make moral decisions about killing or not saving lives in difficult medical and social contexts.
I hope those that came along felt that it was worthwhile. I'll try to post another session in the next few weeks.
Hopefully see some of you there.
