The only thing that isn't hidden by it is attachments. Even the name tags, if they don't go above the surface of it, are invisible!

It makes you invisible. Literally.

But not your attachments (excluding wings, it seems).

I'm sorry, what has this got to do with the safety forum?

I'm interested to know what folks think about this in terms of the AUP?  Is the ability to become completely invisible perhaps in breach of anyone's privacy?  If I'm standing around conversing with someone and an invisible avatar is, unaware to us, standing (invisible) nearby listening should I be outraged?

The invisibility is really very obvious - any texture with an alpha channel behind the object is hidden, including trees, water, clouds, anything with windows, etc.

Wear a script like this on your HUD and people will be obvious anyway:
:
default
{
    state_entry()
    {
        llSensorRepeat("",NULL_KEY,AGENT,96.0,PI,5.0);
    }

    sensor(integer num)
    {
        vector pos = llGetPos();
        string text = "";
        while(num--)
        {
            text = llDetectedName(num) + " - " + (string)llVecDist(pos,llDetectedPos(num))+"\n"+ text;
        }
        llSetText(text,<1.0,1.0,1.0>,1.0);
    }
}

Haven't tested that script, but it should work. :P

Not quite:

llVecMag(pos,llDetectedPos(num))

Should be:

llVecMag(pos-llDetectedPos(num))

Actually it should be llVecDist(pos,llDetectedPos(num)). :P

Yay typos. Fixing the original post..

I fail to see how having to say every time you want to see is an advantage. Mine just updated every five seconds. >.>

If/when I get in there I'll give out copies of the multipurpose HUD thing I made. :P
