OK, I know I have only been on Spii 2 days, but ever sinced I joined schome, 2 months ago, my attention has been particularly drawn to the Building And Planning department. I have been reading all threads and posts in the section, and have requested and looked at chat logs etc, of meetings. Also I have spoke alot to Achiles about the dpeartment and he and Explo are happy for me to join!

I would love to join this department and was told to post this up here, so here it is!

Thanks

Hey Spiral :)

Well, this is the first time we've had someone wanting to join, but at the beginning we all agreed that as the government was 'of the SParkers, for the SParkers' (or something not exactly like that), I think that until we get twenty people wanting to be in one department, anyone who wants to be in it, should be allowed to be in it, applying the same rules to the SParkers2 as the SParkers1. So personally, I don't think there should be a problem with you joining, others' comments?

At some point, we need to consider what we are going to do when there are a lot of people that want to join particular departments (I have the feeling that the B&P department in particular will be quite popular), but for the moment, I think anyone who wants to be in the government can be.

Thats great, and for the item of 20 people + joining, you should hold elections and be a democracy proved island!

Yes, I'm happy for anyone to join, but I think four is the limit. Too many people and we end up back where we were.

Well, as DOs all we really do is take a more than usual interest in the building aspects of SPii etc, and so I don't see why we can't have more than 4 people in the department, though I think that certainly with above 20 people, things might start getting very confusing.

On the specific point, welcome, Spiral, to the department. I hope that we can get your input on the ideas already in progress and look forward to hearing about your own ideas in future.  :)

I do rather seem rather to be the happy, clappy, optimistic one at the moment, don't I. lol

I think four is going to be too few, or certainly shouldn't be the limit, especially as the Schome community grows to goodness knows how many. It's probable that there will be a lot to do a bit later on, once everyone's in, so many hands make light work, really. Plus it's more fun :P.

So, welcome to the B&P department, Spiral :)

Can someone (Spiral?) take a picture of Spiral and add it to the B&P wiki page?

Spiral, if you need to upload a picture on the wiki, send a PM (personal message) to PeterT, asking for upload rights. The 'Upload file' option is towards the bottom of the options on each wiki page.

Spiral also needs to be added as a moderator to the Building and Planning Permission child board.

In respose to trixxees post, I agree with mars that four should be the limit to stop it desending into a anarchy.

Unless you're going to go for consensus on everything, it's better to have an odd number so you can make decisions when you vote on things. Otherwise someone has to be allocated a casting vote.
