Title: Thanks.
Post by: Miss. Vibia on June 01, 2008, 09:40:35 AM
Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone involved really. I have really enjoyed being part of this project. The staff, past and present, have put so much in which has really shown. They have just done so much to make this time in Schome Park as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Also, thanks to all the Schomers I have come across really. You have all helped me too, some of you have been there for me wheh I was quite down, which was a great support to me. The only downside being I have never met any of you in RL!  ;)

The sessions have just stretched me and have helped my learning so much. I have loved having the freedom to be able to learn at my own pace with others there. The discussions have been well, fab, and I am really going to miss them.  :)

So, thanks to everybody, SParkers and Schomers alike, you have all made my time a happy one. So good luck to everyone and take care.

Vibia

I agree with every word of that, I just don't have the time to write it at the moment, but I will soon!

Like I said yesterday, thank you to everyone - it's been a really good year! :)

We should organise a meet-up, perhaps we could write to YG&T or schome could put something towards it

That would be really good.

There was something similar suggested a while back but nothing ever came of it.

It would be really nice to actaully meet up with everybody.

We were trying to get some sort of outreach together a while ago, but there were a few problems with it that couldn't be sorted.
If we were to try to arrange one again, we will have to work hard to get around all the problems that came up during the organisation of the last of.

What were the problems Kali.

I'd really love to actually meet everyone in real life.

The problems were when and where basically. As there are a lot of people in the North and South, complete opposites basically. So we need a central place for us, at at time when everybody can go.  :-\
Or as many as possible.

So we need a date and place that is convenient for everyone?

Basically!  ;) :P

That's going to be rather hard lol.

We should get a list of everyone who actually wants to meet up, then find out their district. Then work from there.

You can't do that without changing the acceptable use policy first. :P

I've wondered for a while why you bothered being so secretive about your identity if you're then going to all meet up anyway. If I was intending to murder you, a meetup is just as good a time as any. If not more so.

Hmm... I do hope that you aren't planning on murdering me.  :P

Kathy, that actually made me laugh. We shouldn't do it as a schome get-together, we should do it as a more friednlier / matey get-together. If you know what I mean. lol

An "Oh, what a surprise!-I never expected to see you here" sort of get together, which is utterly by chance and has no association whatsoever with schome, honest gov. ;)

Yes, that sort of thing.  ::) :P

yup, a group of around 50 schomers just happen to bump into one another in exactly the same location at exactly the same time. Wow!

Thats just not like us!  lol :P

I'd love to be able to support you in meeting up - however, you know from last time around that any official schome involvement would cause lots of difficulties (risk assessments, parental agreement forms, etc) - and of course the AUP doesn't allow sharing of personal details (as Kathy has so rightly pointed out) ... So be careful what you post in here ... (and remember that this topic is open to the public ...)

PeterT
PS I believe that all those folk involved in the space project are meeting up in June to work on the project ... (with parents in tow) ...

There is another thread in the Private Area discussing it in more detail. From the last attempt we know it cant be official and therefore prob cant have the staff there, which is a shame (unless you all want to come along too!) and we need to try and get a central location at the most convenient time for everyone.

There is also the Y Factor thing, and if we win then some people may be meeting up in London for that.

Personally, I find it very distasteful that the law requires you to put professional ethics first, instead of your humanity.

But, after past events, I doubt you even would, if you could.

Shame really, I always find I get along better with people without them being detached.

Humanity is an awful lot more subjective than professional ethics, so relying upon it is not a good way to ensure safety, funding etc.
